Tuesday, January 19th, 2016 Woolworths Portarlington welcomes first customers to new store
Tuesday 12 November 2013: Residents of Portarlington and surrounding areas will see the opening of one of Australia’s most modern supermarket concepts this Wednesday when Woolworths opens the doors of its new store on Brown Street.
The new $4 million supermarket will recreate a modern food market, presenting customers with fresh Australian produce, inspiring meal ideas, a wide choice of healthy options and a huge range of grocery items at great prices.
Portarlington Woolworths store manager, April Ruggles, said 70 people would be employed at the store, with new roles for local people, “We are proud that the opening of the new Woolworths sees us welcoming so many new people to the company.”
“Our aim is to connect customers directly with our fresh producers as much as possible. With 100 per cent of fresh meat and 96 per cent of fresh fruit and veg sourced from Australia, our store will highlight the wonderful seasonality and best uses for fresh products.”
The new store, at 1,533 square metres, will feature amongst other things a combined delicatessen and seafood department, baked goods, case ready meat and a convenient on site BWS store. The store will also include a focus on wellness with Woolworths’ Macro brand that includes a number of free range, free – from and organic choices.
Woolworths Portarlington is celebrating the new store opening with donations to the local community including a cheque presentation to Portarlington Primary School. Customers are welcome to join in all the opening day festivities with entertainment and giveaways from Wednesday morning.
The store will be open from 7am to 10pm everyday.
